Who Is Think Blue?

Health insurance isn’t always easy to understand. That’s why Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas started Think Blue. Think Blue community specialists work with many different community groups and professionals to set up free health insurance information sessions.

We offer sessions that cover a wide range of health insurance information. Our community specialists are available to talk about individual and family coverage and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in easy-to-understand terms. We’re on the road all year educating communities – in both English and Spanish – about their health insurance options and how to enroll.

Think Blue Can Help You

  • Talk to your group about a wide variety of insurance-related topics
    • What is the Affordable Care Act and how does it impact you or your family
    • Understand what options are available and how to choose the right health plan for individuals and families
    • Understand your benefits and how to make the most of your insurance
  • Staff a health insurance booth at your event to answer health insurance questions and hand out helpful brochures.
  • Discuss health insurance related topics by serving as panelists
  • Provide editorial content for your newsletters, websites, employee publications and other communications

We are also certified to train specialized groups, such as navigators, case workers, and social workers. Our services are available to churches, non-profits, employers, schools, and other community groups interested in learning more about health insurance.

CLAUDIA GARCIA

COMMUNITY RELATIONS SPECIALIST spanish icon

Claudia Garcia has extensive experience in Community Outreach. She focuses on educating the community about available health programs. She has coordinated health fairs that brought community agencies together to provide health benefit information and give onsite health screenings.

She is experienced in Medicare, Medicaid and individual/family coverage. She is certified by the State of Texas as a Community Health Worker (CHW) and has held multiple leadership positions in non-profit organizations. She has served as 2014 President of the Collin County Social Services Association, a member of the Plano ISD Head Start Health Advisory Board, and a board member of Congregation Nishmat Am.

NATILEA HENDERSON

COMMUNITY RELATIONS SPECIALIST

Natilea Henderson began her career in health care in 2006 after earning her Bachelor's degree from Prairie View A&M. She earned her Master’s degree in Educational Counseling in 2011. She has worked for commercial and public sector health plans and a network of local hospitals in Business Development.

As a Think Blue Ambassador, Natilea focuses on health care initiatives, health care plan education, marketing, community partnerships and member retention, for both the aging and growing populations. Natilea is an active member of several health care advocacy groups.

JUNE KIM

COMMUNITY RELATIONS SPECIALIST

June Kim has extensive knowledge of the home health industry and community outreach. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and an MBA. She worked with seniors in the home health industry and with the Area Agency on Aging of Tarrant County.

June lives in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and is active in the community. She serves on several boards, including Seniors in Motion Auxiliary (SIMA) and Patient Experience Committee for Medical City Lewisville. She is also Chair for the Retired Seniors Volunteer Programs (RSVP) and the VP of Membership for Altrusa DFW.

NANCY LOPEZ

COMMUNITY RELATIONS SPECIALIST

Nancy Lopez joined the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas Community Relations Team in 2019. Nancy was born and raised in Houston, Texas and has over 20 years of experience in the Houston health care market. She enjoys educating the community about many health care topics related to individual health coverage, Medicare and other government programs such as Medicaid and CHIP. 

Nancy is committed to helping people within the community and enjoys doing volunteer work. She is certified as Medical Insurance Specialist, certified by the State of Texas as a Community Health Worker (CHW) and a licensed insurance agent.

PAULA RAMIREZ

Paula Ramirez began her health care career in 1997 at the Texas Medical Center in Houston and joined Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas in 2015. Paula holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and is currently working on her MBA. Her unique background of health program coordination, grant management, sales and health administration helps her excel in all aspects in her career. 

Paula has a passion for community outreach.  She spends her free time volunteering for Dress for Success Houston and the Girls Empowerment Network by leading workshops, fundraising and much more.  As a bilingual longtime resident of Houston and Texan at heart, Paula holds a Life and Health State License and is dedicated to connecting all individuals with the right health care plan to fit their specific needs.

ALMENDRA RAMOS

COMMUNITY RELATIONS SPECIALIST

Almendra Ramos began her career with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas in 2019. She has knowledge in the Health Insurance Marketplace, Medicare, Medicaid/CHIP and other government programs. This has allowed her to assist the North Houston community for over eight years.  She is a certified by the state of Texas as a licensed insurance agent as well a Community Health Worker (CHW).

Almendra is committed to helping her Hispanic community through an extensive knowledge in local resources, education and organizing health fairs. In addition, she is working on creating valuable opportunities with organizations like nonprofits food pantries, community centers and libraries to help better her community. She enjoys volunteering, spending time with family and traveling.

DORA ANN SAUCEDO

Dora Ann Saucedo joined the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas Community Relations Team in 2013, drawing on years of experience in community relations outreach. This has helped her develop working relationships with state, city, and other regional organizations. She is a Certified Community Health Worker (CHW) and licensed insurance agent.

Dora Ann is committed to helping people within the community and enjoys doing volunteer work. She works with multiple government agencies and non-profit organizations in Texas to provide resources and support to families in the community.

KAREN TRAVIT

COMMUNITY RELATIONS SPECIALIST

Karen Travit has been with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas since 2010. She has years of experience in the health insurance industry, with a concentration in the Disability, Life Insurance and Medicare. She has a bachelor’s degree in Business/Marketing from Marymount College.

Karen is active in many community organizations, including the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Continental Societies Inc., The Ms. Texas Senior America Pageant and the National Museum of Women in the Arts. Karen is dedicated to educating the community on Medicare and health insurance.
